/Meet Lori - She teaches the importance of protecting heirloom seeds to her friends and neighbors
Do you ever wonder how your investment is used at Seed Savers Exchange? How your donation or membership has an impact for the greater good? Meet Lori.
Lori lives in Washington D.C. and has a passion for tomatoes.
Growing up in Amish farm country in Pennsylvania she had a knack for gardening, a love for heirloom varieties, and with the help of Seed Savers Exchange, she shares heirloom seedlings with her community during her annual plant yard sale.
“I grow heirloom tomatoes, and this year, in honor of my 50th birthday, I grew 50 varieties and I got probably a third of them from a Seed Savers Exchange member who had seeds in the Yearbook. I talk about this place all the time and have become known in the community as someone who grows heirlooms.”
Lori enjoys being part of the tradition of passing on heirloom seeds, and especially enjoys the sharing the history that surrounds each variety with her friends and neighbors.
She continued, “I’m always sort of preaching the importance of (growing heirloom varieties). It’s really, really lovely.”
